Purposes & Goals
The purposes and goals of Silver Wings Fraternity are:
- To unite and band together for social, non-profit and non-political purposes, while creating harmony and a spirit of camaraderie and friendship among members. Originally limited to pilots who soloed a powered aircraft at least 25 years ago, now younger pilots and others with an genuine interest in aviation can join us.
- To perpetuate the memory of, and to renew and affirm friendships, and to recognize contributions and accomplishments in all aspects of flight by its members.
- To create and foster a spirit of camaraderie and cooperation among aviators through recognition, awards and social programs such as the Annual Convention/Reunion.
- To schedule enjoyable and informative events where Members can participate in Fly-Outs, tours of aviation-related museums and facilities, and hear interesting aviation-related guest speakers.
- To open and maintain our “Hospitality Cottage” in the center of the Sun n’ Fun campus during the “Sun n’ Fun International Fly-In & Expo” for one week every Spring, and at other scheduled official events.
- To encourage, and advance interest in Aviation, including through organized youth programs, and to award scholarships to young people seeking experiences and careers in aviation.
- For members to avoid situations of personal profit as a result of an inappropriate use of membership.
President's Column
On behalf of the National Board of Directors of the Silver Wings Fraternity, I welcome members and visitors to our website, and I thank you for your interest in our organization. I invite you to explore our site to learn more about our Fraternity.
Our organization is dedicated to all things aviation, and we have a lot of fun along the way. We have something to offer pilots and aviation enthusiasts of any age and any skill level. We are also dedicated to getting young people started in aviation through our Aviation Scholarship Program.
If you are interested in hanging out with aviators, then you will fit right in. I invite you to click on the Downloads tab and select National Membership Application. Just fill it out and mail it in.
Click on the Chapters/Meetings link to find a Silver Wings Fraternity chapter that meets near you. Start making your plans to attend our 2012 Annual Convention/ Reunion next October. Information on dates, location and events will be available soon.
Finally, visit us at our Cottage on Clubhouse Row in the middle of the Sun n’ Fun campus next Spring. We look forward to meeting you.
