About Silver Wings

If you have a genuine interest in aviation and are over the age of 18, you are eligible to join. We have no political agenda and are open to everyone regardless of race, creed, color or national origin. We enjoy both hangar flying and actual flying, and we encourage young people to consider Aviation as a career choice.

All Silver Wings Fraternity members are eligible to wear our symbolic Silver Wings Design lapel pin. If you soloed a powered aircraft of any make or model you are eligible to wear the classic Blue Wings lapel pin. Once you reach the 25 year mark since your first solo you will be eligible to wear a lapel pin with a star on the top signifying this aviation milestone. If you soloed a powered aircraft more than 50 years ago you are eligible to wear a lapel pin with a star and a wreath.

We were initially incorporated in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1958. Russell Brinkley and several other veteran pilots saw the need for a Fraternal and Charitable Not-for-Profit Organization of men and women who live and fly worldwide, whether active or retired.

Silver Wings Fraternity has nearly 1000 members throughout the world, and many belong to active Chapters in several cities across the United States. Membership covers the gamut from active fliers and enthusiasts to those who retired from aviation years ago. All phases of aviation are represented: the Airline industry, Military aviators and all facets of General Aviation.

Our membership includes combat fliers who are Heroes of World War II to include Tuskegee Airmen, Aviation Hall of Fame laureates, ladies of the famous Ninety-Nine’s, those ladies who were WASP’s during World War II and other more recent military airmen. Pilots who flew for the airlines, and those who flew commercially in General Aviation have a strong representation. Just as important, General Aviation pilots of all ratings who only fly or flew for pleasure and the enjoyment of flight make up a substantial percentage of our members. Some of our members are building or have built their own airplanes.

You will enjoy becoming a Silver Wings Fraternity member – meeting old friends, making new ones – all speaking the same language of flight and experiencing the great adventure of flight itself.

Please Note: The Silver Wings Fraternity Aviation Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (Silver Wings Fraternity) was incorporated in the State of Florida as a non-profit organization.
